Canesten - clinical reference
A licensed healthcare practitioner can help you understand what applies to your specific situation.
To treat diaper rash for children, apply a thin layer and gently massage enough cream onto the affected and surrounding skin area twice daily at a diaper change, in the morning and evening. Only use Canesten (Clotrimazole) for treating diaper rash that has been diagnosed by your doctor. If symptoms worsen or if there is no improvement after 2 weeks, contact your doctor. Do not use Canesten (Clotrimazole) cream for longer than 14 days.
To treat jock itch, athlete's foot, and ringworm for adults, apply a thin layer of cream and gently massage it into the affected and surrounding skin area twice daily, in the morning and evening. Improvement in the itching should be seen within the first week. For jock itch and ringworm, treatment should be continued for 2 to 4 weeks. For athlete's foot, treatment may be needed for at least 4 weeks.
For foot infections, make sure you dry your feet thoroughly (especially between the toes) and wear well-fitted, ventilated shoes and cotton or wool socks to improve treatment results and prevent repeat infections. Treatment with Canesten (Clotrimazole) topical cream should continue for about 2 weeks after your symptoms have disappeared. This will help to prevent relapses.
Many things can affect the dose of medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are using the medication without consulting your doctor.
Avoid contact with the eyes. If this happens, rinse thoroughly with water.
If your symptoms have not disappeared or improved after 2 weeks of treatment (up to 4 weeks for athlete's foot), or if your symptoms worsen, contact your doctor.
It is important to apply Canesten (Clotrimazole) exactly as prescribed by your doctor or recommended by your pharmacist. If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you are not sure what to do after missing a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Store Canesten (Clotrimazole) at room temperature between 15°C and 30°C, and keep it out of the reach of children.
Do not dispose of medications in wastewater (e.g. down the sink or in the toilet) or in household garbage. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medications that are no longer needed or have expired.
In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some adverse effects, notably: it may cause local redness; it may cause local irritation. Each person may react differently to a treatment. If you think this medication may be causing adverse effects (including those described here, or others), talk to your health care professional. He or she can help you to determine whether or not the medication is the source of the problem.
Each gram of topical cream contains Canesten (Clotrimazole) 10 mg in a vanishing cream base. Nonmedicinal ingredients: benzyl alcohol, cetostearyl alcohol, cetyl esters wax, 2-octyl dodecanol, polysorbate 60, sorbitan monostearate, and water.
Do not use Canesten (Clotrimazole) if you are allergic to Canesten (Clotrimazole) topical cream or any ingredients of the medication.
If you are taking any of these medications, speak with your doctor or pharmacist. Depending on your specific circumstances, your doctor may want you to:
- stop taking one of the medications,
- change one of the medications to another,
- change how you are taking one or both of the medications, or
- leave everything as is.
An interaction between two medications does not always mean that you must stop taking one of them. In many cases, interactions are intended or are managed by close monitoring. Speak to your doctor about how any drug interactions are being managed or should be managed.
Medications other than those listed above may interact with Canesten (Clotrimazole). Tell your doctor or prescriber about all prescription, over-the-counter (non-prescription), and herbal medications you are taking. Also tell them about any supplements you take. Since caffeine, alcohol, the Nicotine from cigarettes, or street drugs can affect the action of many medications, you should let your prescriber know if you use them.
Before you begin using a medication, be sure to inform your doctor of any medical conditions or Allergies you may have, any medications you are taking, whether you are pregnant or breast-feeding, and any other significant facts about your health. These factors may affect how you should use Canesten (Clotrimazole).
Dressings: Do not use dressings or bandages over Canesten (Clotrimazole) cream unless recommended by your doctor. Diapers are not considered dressings because they allow air to contact the skin and are frequently changed.
For external use only: Canesten (Clotrimazole) cream is for external use only and should not be taken by mouth.
Hygiene: Fungal infections of the foot are often difficult to treat. Drying the skin after washing, particularly keeping the areas between the toes dry, and wearing cotton or wool socks to absorb moisture will help the skin to heal and keep the infection from returning.
Nail infection: Canesten (Clotrimazole) is not to be used for infection of the nails. Contact your doctor if you have a fungal nail infection.
Pregnancy: Canesten (Clotrimazole) should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks. If you become pregnant while using Canesten (Clotrimazole), contact your doctor.
Breast-feeding: Canesten (Clotrimazole) may pass into breast milk. If you are a breast-feeding mother and are using Canesten (Clotrimazole), it may affect your baby. Talk to your doctor about whether you should continue breast-feeding.
This medication is to be applied on the skin. To use: Clean the affected area. Apply a small quantity, and limit the application to the affected area. Wash your hands after applying the medication - unless, obviously, you applied the medication on your hands! Fungal infections thrive in moist conditions. The infection will heal more quickly if the affected area is kept clean and dry. Do not let this product come in contact with your eyes. This medication is typically used twice a day. However, your pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Continue applying the product to complete the prescribed course of treatment, even after improvement is seen or felt. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed.

I reached out to a Pocketpills regarding some issues I was experiencing with my skin. The pharmacist assisting me got back to me within the hour. She was helpful in suggesting remedies and providing instructions. The prescription was filled instantaneously. The entire process was perfect - amazing communication, live updates through text, phone and email. The reminders were extremely helpful. Delivery was efficient and seamless. I felt cared for every step of the way. Thank you for everything
I wanted to make a change to the formulation of my prescription and the pharmacist promptly made the changes necessary to adapt my prescription to suit my skin. And delivered 2 days before scheduled. Thank you!

This is our first time experience of using Pocketpills. It was very convenient to prescribe the acne medication with pharmacist, rather than to have a long wait with a doctor. Thank you for the fast delivery and service!
Very reliable with fast shipping! The app is easy to use, fees are fair, and there is excellent communication! Highly recommend.

I got my prescription delivered for free within 4 business days. All went smoothly which was pretty good. This was easy and I will use it again.
Great and fast service. It's cheaper and easier than going to a pharmacy.
Time is the currency of life. Pocketpills gives me my time back. 100% recommend!
Super easy, lower prices, real Dr review. The pharmacist even reached out to me about my dosage. I feel very comfortable and well looked after by people who seem to actually care. It's been a great experience. So much so that I've recommended Pocket Pills to my friends and family.
Fast delivery even before estimated delivery date. Its great not having to go to a physical pharmacy. I highly reccommend pocketpills

I really, really appreciate this service, it makes staying on top of my medication so much easier. The team has also always been kind and helpful to me in every interaction I've had. The free shipping is incredibly nice, they keep me informed about the shipping process for my medication, and they manage my refills and contact my doctor if necessary. It takes a lot of little stresses off my plate, especially as someone with ADHD who is not the best at managing these little stresses. The app is also nicely organized and easy to use, and I can communicate with a pharmacist through text or call whenever I need. Not to be dramatic, but Pocket Pills has genuinely improved my life!
Pocketpill makes it easy and efficient to ship and deliver on time. Medication shouldn't be a source of stress - something Pocketpill seems to understand
I received all my prescriptions as promised, delivered straight to my door. So much easier than it ever has been to get my pills. Thanks!

Very fast and efficient service. They are good at communicating with you about your needs. Very helpful and supportive
