DRUG INFORMATION

Tranexamic-acid - clinical reference

A licensed healthcare practitioner can help you understand what applies to your specific situation.

The usual adult dose of tranexamic acid is 2 to 3 tablets (1000 mg to 1500 mg) taken 2 to 3 times daily. The length of time that you will take Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid) is determined by the condition being treated.

The dose of tranexamic acid for children is based on body weight. The recommended dose is 25 mg per kilogram of body weight taken 2 to 3 times a day.

If Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid) is being used to prevent or reduce bleeding during dental surgery, the dose is usually calculated based on body weight.

Many things can affect the dose of medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are taking the medication without consulting your doctor.

It is important to take Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid) exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you are not sure what to do after missing a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Store Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid) at room temperature, protect it from light and moisture, and keep it out of the reach of children.

Do not dispose of medications in wastewater (e.g. down the sink or in the toilet) or in household garbage. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medications that are no longer needed or have expired.

In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some adverse effects, notably: it may cause headaches; it may cause stomach ache; it may cause back pain; it may cause muscle pain; it may cause nausea and vomiting. Each person may react differently to a treatment. If you think this medication may be causing adverse effects (including those described here, or others), talk to your health care professional. He or she can help you to determine whether or not the medication is the source of the problem.

  • have blood in the urine
  • have problems with distinguishing colours

There may be an interaction between tranexamic acid and any of the following:

  • fibrinogen
  • hormonal birth control (estrogens and progesterones)
  • tretinoin

If you are taking any of these medications, speak with your doctor or pharmacist. Depending on your specific circumstances, your doctor may want you to:

  • stop taking one of the medications,
  • change one of the medications to another,
  • change how you are taking one or both of the medications, or
  • leave everything as is.

An interaction between two medications does not always mean that you must stop taking one of them. Speak to your doctor about how any drug interactions are being managed or should be managed.

Medications other than those listed above may interact with Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid). Tell your doctor or prescriber about all prescription, over-the-counter (non-prescription), and herbal medications you are taking. Also tell them about any supplements you take. Since caffeine, alcohol, the Nicotine from cigarettes, or street drugs can affect the action of many medications, you should let your prescriber know if you use them.

Before you begin using a medication, be sure to inform your doctor of any medical conditions or Allergies you may have, any medications you are taking, whether you are pregnant or breast-feeding, and any other significant facts about your health. These factors may affect how you should use Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid).

Birth control: Hormonal birth control, such as birth control pills, increase the risk of developing blood clots. Taking tranexamic acid along with birth control may increase your risk of developing blood clots. If you are using a form of hormonal birth control, discuss with your doctor how Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid) may affect your medical condition, how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid), and whether any special monitoring is needed.

Blood clots: Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid) increases the chance of blood clot formation, causing reduction of blood flow to organs or the extremities.

If you have a history of clotting you may be at increased risk of experiencing blood clot-related problems such as heart attack, stroke, or clots in the deep veins of your leg. Discuss with your doctor how Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid) may affect your medical condition, how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid), and whether any special monitoring is needed.

If you experience symptoms such as sharp pain and swelling in the leg, difficulty breathing, chest pain, blurred vision, or difficulty speaking, contact your doctor immediately.

Drowsiness/reduced alertness: Tranexamic-Acid acid may cause drowsiness or dizziness, affecting your ability to drive or operate machinery. Avoid these and other hazardous tasks until you have determined how Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid) affects you.

Vision changes: Regular use of tranexamic acid may cause changes in vision. This can include blurred vision, changed colour recognition, or a change in the field of vision. If you experience any changes to your vision while taking Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid), contact your doctor as soon as possible. Your doctor may want you to have an eye examination before starting Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid), so changes to vision can be identified.

Pregnancy: Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid) should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks. If you become pregnant while taking Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid), contact your doctor immediately.

Breast-feeding: Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid) passes into breast milk in very small amounts. If you are a breast-feeding mother and are taking tranexamic acid, it may affect your baby. Research has shown that it is probably safe for the baby to breast feed while you are taking Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid), however you may wish to talk to your doctor about whether you should continue breast-feeding.

Children: The safety and effectiveness of using Tranexamic-Acid (Tranexamic-Acid-acid) to treat heavy menstrual flow in adolescent girls have not been established.

This medication is typically used 3 times a day. However, your pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Generally, a treatment with this medication lasts several days. Take it for the entire time prescribed in order to achieve the medication's full benefit. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember -- unless it is almost time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose. Do not double the next dose to catch up. This medication may be taken with or without food.

This is our first time experience of using Pocketpills. It was very convenient to prescribe the acne medication with pharmacist, rather than to have a long wait with a doctor. Thank you for the fast delivery and service!

It has genuinely improved my life
It has genuinely improved my life

I really, really appreciate this service, it makes staying on top of my medication so much easier. The team has also always been kind and helpful to me in every interaction I've had. The free shipping is incredibly nice, they keep me informed about the shipping process for my medication, and they manage my refills and contact my doctor if necessary. It takes a lot of little stresses off my plate, especially as someone with ADHD who is not the best at managing these little stresses. The app is also nicely organized and easy to use, and I can communicate with a pharmacist through text or call whenever I need. Not to be dramatic, but Pocket Pills has genuinely improved my life!
