DRUG INFORMATION

Apo Pindol - clinical reference

A licensed healthcare practitioner can help you understand what applies to your specific situation.

The recommended dose of Apo Pindol (Pindolol) ranges from 10 mg to 45 mg daily, depending on the needs of the person taking the medication. It should be taken with food.

For treatment of high blood pressure, the dose of Apo Pindol (Pindolol) is usually started at 5 mg twice daily and increased gradually until the best dose is found. When the dose is less than 30 mg per day, it is taken in 2 divided doses. Doses greater than 30 mg per day are taken in 3 divided doses.

For treatment of angina, the starting dose is 5 mg 3 times a day with food. If the desired response is not reached in 1 to 2 weeks, the dosage may be increased, up to a maximum of 40 mg per day.

Many things can affect the dose of a medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are taking the medication without consulting your doctor.

It is important to take Apo Pindol (Pindolol) exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you are not sure what to do after missing a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Do not stop taking Apo Pindol (Pindolol) without first talking with your doctor. Stopping the medication suddenly after you have been taking it for a while may cause unpleasant and potentially harmful effects.

Do not dispose of medications in wastewater (e.g. down the sink or in the toilet) or in household garbage. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medications that are no longer needed or have expired.

10 mg
Each round, white tablet with bevelled edges, scored and engraved "APO" over "P10", contains 10 mg of Apo Pindol (Pindolol). Nonmedicinal ingredients: lactose hydrous (spray dried), microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, and magnesium stearate.

15 mg
Each round, white tablet with bevelled edges, scored and engraved "APO" over "P15" on one side, contains 15 mg of Apo Pindol (Pindolol). Nonmedicinal ingredients: lactose hydrous (spray dried), microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, and magnesium stearate.

Do not take Apo Pindol (Pindolol) if you:

  • are allergic to Apo Pindol (Pindolol) or to any of the ingredients of the medication
  • are receiving or will receive anesthesia (e.g., ether)
  • have right ventricular failure caused by pulmonary hypertension (excessive blood pressure in the lungs)
  • have a serious heart block
  • have an irregular or severely slow heart rate
  • have a severe circulatory disturbance
  • have Asthma or other obstructive respiratory diseases
  • have Congestive Heart Failure
  • have had cardiogenic shock
  • have untreated pheochromocytoma
  • have Prinzmetal’s angina
  • have sick sinus syndrome

There may be an interaction between Apo Pindol (Pindolol) and any of the following:

If you are taking any of these medications, speak with your doctor or pharmacist. Depending on your specific circumstances, your doctor may want you to:

  • stop taking one of the medications,
  • change one of the medications to another,
  • change how you are taking one or both of the medications, or
  • leave everything as is.

An interaction between two medications does not always mean that you must stop taking one of them. Speak to your doctor about how any drug interactions are being managed or should be managed.

Medications other than those listed above may interact with Apo Pindol (Pindolol). Tell your doctor or prescriber about all prescription, over-the-counter (non-prescription), and herbal medications you are taking. Also tell them about any supplements you take. Since caffeine, alcohol, the Nicotine from cigarettes, or street drugs can affect the action of many medications, you should let your prescriber know if you use them.

Before you begin using a medication, be sure to inform your doctor of any medical conditions or Allergies you may have, any medications you are taking, whether you are pregnant or breast-feeding, and any other significant facts about your health. These factors may affect how you should use Apo Pindol (Pindolol).

Breathing problems: People with asthma and certain other breathing problems should, in general, not take a beta-blocker such as Apo Pindol (Pindolol). If you have these types of conditions and your doctor prescribed Apo Pindol (Pindolol) for you, it may be at a lower dose, and your doctor will monitor you regularly while you are taking Apo Pindol (Pindolol).

Congestive heart failure (CHF): Apo Pindol (Pindolol) may make heart failure worse. If you have CHF, discuss with your doctor how Apo Pindol (Pindolol) may affect your medical condition, how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of Apo Pindol (Pindolol), and whether any special monitoring is needed.

Diabetes: The signs of low blood sugar may not be as noticeable when taking Apo Pindol (Pindolol). If you have diabetes and take insulin or another medication that works by reducing the sugar in the blood, be cautious and monitor your blood sugar carefully while taking Apo Pindol (Pindolol).

Drowsiness/reduced alertness: Dizziness or fatigue may occur when starting treatment with Apo Pindol (Pindolol). This may impair your ability to drive or operate machinery. Exercise caution with these activities until you find out whether the medication affects you in this way.

Hyperthyroidism (high level of Thyroid hormones): Apo Pindol (Pindolol) may mask symptoms of high levels of thyroid in the body. People with hyperthyroidism should be cautious while taking Apo Pindol (Pindolol), as it may reduce the symptoms of this condition giving a false impression of improvement. Stopping Apo Pindol (Pindolol) suddenly could worsen this condition.

Liver disease: Liver disease or reduced liver function may cause Apo Pindol (Pindolol) to build up in the body, causing side effects. If you have liver problems, discuss with your doctor how Apo Pindol (Pindolol) may affect your medical condition, how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of Apo Pindol (Pindolol), and whether any special monitoring is needed.

Low Blood Pressure: Occasionally, blood pressure may drop too low after taking Apo Pindol (Pindolol), causing dizziness or lightheadedness. Move slowly when moving from a lying down or sitting position to a standing position to prevent dizziness, especially when you first start taking Apo Pindol (Pindolol).

Psoriasis: Apo Pindol (Pindolol) and other beta-blockers may aggravate or worsen psoriasis. If you have psoriasis, discuss with your doctor how Apo Pindol (Pindolol) may affect your medical condition, how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of Apo Pindol (Pindolol), and whether any special monitoring is needed.

Severe allergies: People with allergies severe enough to cause Anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction) (a severe allergic reaction where swelling of the face, lips, and throat makes it difficult to breathe) should talk to their doctor about what to do if they have an allergic reaction. Apo Pindol (Pindolol) may make it more difficult to treat their allergic reaction with Epinephrine.

Skin conditions: Various skin rashes and dry eyes have been reported with use of Apo Pindol (Pindolol).

Stopping usage: Apo Pindol (Pindolol) should not be stopped suddenly by those who are taking it to treat angina. There have been reports of severe worsening of angina, and of Heart Attack or abnormal heart rhythms occurring in people with angina who have stopped Apo Pindol (Pindolol) abruptly.

Surgery: If you are scheduled for surgery, inform all doctors involved in your care that you are taking Apo Pindol (Pindolol).

Pregnancy: The safety of Apo Pindol (Pindolol) for use by pregnant women has not been established. It should not be taken by pregnant women unless the benefits outweigh the risks. If you become pregnant while taking Apo Pindol (Pindolol), contact your doctor immediately.

Breast-feeding: Apo Pindol (Pindolol) passes into breast milk. If you are a breast-feeding mother and are taking Apo Pindol (Pindolol), it may affect your baby. Talk to your doctor about whether you should continue breast-feeding.

Children: The safety and effectiveness of using Apo Pindol (Pindolol) have not been established for children.

This is our first time experience of using Pocketpills. It was very convenient to prescribe the acne medication with pharmacist, rather than to have a long wait with a doctor. Thank you for the fast delivery and service!

It has genuinely improved my life
It has genuinely improved my life

I really, really appreciate this service, it makes staying on top of my medication so much easier. The team has also always been kind and helpful to me in every interaction I've had. The free shipping is incredibly nice, they keep me informed about the shipping process for my medication, and they manage my refills and contact my doctor if necessary. It takes a lot of little stresses off my plate, especially as someone with ADHD who is not the best at managing these little stresses. The app is also nicely organized and easy to use, and I can communicate with a pharmacist through text or call whenever I need. Not to be dramatic, but Pocket Pills has genuinely improved my life!
